Your correspondent focuses on possible leaks where DevExpress.2011.Beta came from. Probing DevExpress download site, you can download the latest product.
RemObjects vs DevExpress download site
I like RemObject's idea of using one-set of serial-numbers per release. That way, keys work on a specific builds and on each specific version of their product.

RemObject download site don't allow downloading latest releases (it is greyed out) while DevExpress does.
RemObject download site separate out trial from actual version, with DevExpress is combined.
Net effect: Software pirates are traced easily from RemObjects, since the pirated key is unique to build, newer builds cannot be unlocked by older keys.
For DevExpress, even a dog directed to click on the return key (by the dog's owner) can download the full version of product, the owner can then slowly break into it, extract sources (it is variant of PKZIP+AES), decode the encrypted blocks.
Suggestions:
1) Why not block people who have expired subscription from downloading latest version? It's same for DevExpress.NET product but for some reason, not applied to DevExpress.VCL product.

2) Why not make two builds, one trial for public (with all DCUs) and commercial. If their Delphi environment is not same, then drop it. Of course, the only unofficial build of Delphi is ..., you know...
3) Why not embed FaceBook login as well? That way, anonymous person downloading it can be linked to a real identity...

Is it true that DevExpress worth more
then CodeGear? Also looks like DevExpress turn to MS/.NET site?
Anonymous, VCL @ devexpress is charity I think. This corner the mid-range, Enterprise business apps are on .net if MS technology is considered on the server side.
For the rest I personally would assume office 365 or similiar will have a major impact.

That question should be re-phrased as:
1) Strong customer service. If I cannot get any of the devs there to respond, Julian responds...
For Embarcadero, ask about safe work-place environment, that we don't entertain companies that host forums or customer-service which harasses or act in de-meaning manner.
2) I buy DevExpress.NET and DevExpress.VCL, I don't have to buy any other trash.
For Delphi, I get a 1/2 baked product. Sometimes, I get bad builds (Delphi2005, Delphi8, Delphi2010...)
3) It depends whether the CTO and other developers like to do assembly.
4) Make a DevExpress 64-bit Delphi compiler? Maybe save the money and write better NET things.
They lost over 45 millions dollars because of software piracy on VCL components. Go figure.

I look forward to many years (and trips), showing you what the combined teams will do to continue moving software development forward. To reuse a phrase from Texas hold ‘em poker, “I am all in!!!”
-> I agree, especially on the trips ... and I think the last 4 words are what this is all about, at least this impression is left.
>>The combined company, when the transaction is completed, will be a good example of a deal where 1+1 = 3++.
-> A good example for false or 0.
This is nothing personal and there is for sure an intersect pointed out correctly. The empty set.
Anyway this announcment is exactly what EMB sells ...
to:
Simply shipping tasty Pizza.
decide:
What would you prefer. Tasty Pizza presented by star cooks Armanda, Mehul and Julian oder a tool box as announced.
What about the videos for programmers? Programmers don't buy.
They should rename Delphi to EMB Pascal ... put it into the hands of some people the customer would at least assume, they had written the last few years more code in their life than Armanda in the last 2 videos - currently the picture presented is the opposite.
Maybe at least EMB should be this creative and invite people from the street when shooting photos from the Developer Days and at least don't leave the impression of a second class IBM trade show. Sry to say.
This is ok for the EMB product line ... I know these ancient DB user groups, they like this - Tivoli fan club. They need symbols from their past - Ralph Kimbal. Here it fits.
The developers all the 17 mio others maybe see this different.
Sry for being little off-topic but the devexpress comparison inspired me.
