HTTP Code: 402 Payment Required

Someone wrote an innocent question:Will we have to pay for the 64Bit Delphi or is it a free upgrade for RAD Studio XE users? And when will it arrive approximately?

Here is the best reply:
Yes, I think so. And again for the next version with improved 64 bit compiler and OSX support (beta).
Then pay for the next version with working OSX support and Linux in beta.
Then pay for the next version with a workable linux compiler.
That's all together a lot of money.
And the next releases may not contain an IDE for OSX and/or Linux. Most likely there will be no support for Android/iPhone smartphones/tablets. Despite those devices will be very hot in the coming years.

If your reviewer counts the costs:
Delphi 2009 -- promised that 64-bit Delphi would come out -- US$1999 for Delphi Enterprise... or SA
Delphi 2010 -- promised that 64-bit Delphi would come out -- US$1299 or SA...
Delphi XE -- (same as above -- but with a preview...) -- US$1299 or SA...
almost 6 months will pass... would they get a free upgrade?
...
...
...
costs per person... maybe more with other licenses?
...

Maybe I'm buying a car for someone else ... or maybe paying for an instalment plan for a new car...

End result, unless you can make enough money to pay for all that stuff (considering that resale is prohibited) then Delphi is probably "an excellent business decision" that will take money out of your pocket.

I did not know that 64-bit support was announced for D2009 already. Ouch! False decade. Good things take time. Now I understand why people became this angry. Excuse I was working in Enterprise reality these days. I have checked, you are not false in some Delphi forums one can still read that people believed this. That's the last straw;)Injustice that cries to heaven ...
