Correspondent from New York
In our last blog post "QA Dept: Marketing Double-speak" there is double-digit growth and things are looking rosy and happy. If there is double-digit growth, why is there a need to do an annual world tour? Maybe there is lack of local leaders?
There is this "Get a free Delphi/FireMonkey notebook at US and Canada World Tour events". The developers not in USA and Canada (overseas) must be sad, since they are excluded. Amusingly, how much does it cost to make those custom printed notebooks? Can you get four notebooks (or is it 1 per person)? There is a chance to win a great prize (from your correspondent's last year's attendance: Delphi XE Enterprise without SA).
Here's a counter proposal to make things rosier and make things look like double digit growth:
- How much does it cost to ship (or maybe via air-passenger luggage) tons of Embarcadero Mugs, Keychains, Shirts and other souvenirs to give out to others on the World Tour? How about giving away Delphi and C++ Builder printed documentation and books during the world tour?
The Europeans get nothing since they are a bit cheap as they do not get any free gifts yet they pay 50% more (considering the Euro/US Dollar Exchange rate) with 20% Tax.
- Why stop at one grand prize? Why not 30 prizes (that would cover 50% to 90% or (200%) of the respondents in certain world-tour locations).
- Why not give a free decent notebook (the computer kind - like a Mac Book Pro or Dell Alienware) to every respondent?
- Either the photographer who took the photographs for the notebooks took wrong angle (photo #2 on right with some background) or the notebook look a little cheap. How about using quality paper (multi-colored paper?), quality lamination (so after few months the logo don't look faded or washed-out), quality binding (so the wires don't go crooked or misaligned after some time)? They should also include Tip Sheets, suggestive templates (for Extreme Programming) and Agile development notes.
- If you can combine the world tour event with a Delphi job fair or job booth that would be most appreciated.
:)
