Few days ago, your correspondent received a news alert from ZDNet "12 ways hardware makers screw up a perfectly good Windows PC". It is often quoted Delphi is good for making system utilities...
Guess which Delphi apps are featured in ZDNet's article?

A perfectly good working Windows PC does not exist. What does a naked Windows provide ... an improved copy con ... :)
I agree totally with the article mentioned, but for me it's simply a sign that compensating missing basic functionality cannot be compensated via add-on tools.
I think the main issue behind are all the standby services and blah blah started due to missing conceptual completeness. OS/2 was a lot more advanced than Windows will ever become at the OS level.
Why does Windows need services everywhere ... slow hard disk access. Why - stand by because of slow hard disk access ....
The problem is not Delphi the problem are the services ... Windows is not built for this ... remember XP ... independent from the implementation technology.
Sry ... little to much compensation ... my old eyes ...my old eyes
