In this blog, there are references towards unusual and predatory third-party contracts that Borland passed to Embarcadero.

There have been dissent going around Delphi paradise about third-party vendors getting shafted by predatory pricing, vulture legalese and contracts detrimental to the Delphi community.

Our reviewer, our correspondents wishes our readers a Happy New Year.

We look forward to Delphi XE3 - will it be yet another Delphi version to milk Delphi developers of their hard-earned cash or another attempt to exorcise the TDemons?

Will the next year be the last 361 days or will it be the dawn of a New Age, one where Delphi Haters and Delphi Lovers can live in peace?

Delphi developers are being robbed blind. They don't know when someone intruded on their servers (well..., most of them use shared hosting so it does not matter) or use such security systems that allows Ali Baba and the 40 thousand thieves to come in via back-doors, cracks, hacks, exploits because of bad security.

@JaimyAzle: The XE2 release was indeed very exiting. However, with several old
delphi projects had been discontinued and unmaintained, while our delphi
code (alive and used) was just only left to 20% from our total code
base on existing live projects. I found It was hard to find reasons to
propose XE2 upgrade to the management. :(

There is currently some discussion (1) about where the name 'XE' comes from. One possible theory is they used the website www.xe.com because Embarcadero uses this ridiculous exchange-rate where US$1 = Euros 1.

In Europe, the cost of Delphi is almost 48% higher than in USA.

Possible interpretation for above image:Does EUR 1 = USD 1?

When I say "Delphi", I mean "Delphi", other Pascal dialects have introduced more elegant forms (Prism/Oxygen especially), and have at the very least tried to fight entropy.

Just a few examples:

Let's see the double-speak:

there is double-digit growth.
In common language it means: many more developers forced to upgrade to get discounted prices. The upgrade by date for older versions of Delphi or C++ Builder is over. They are then forced to upgrade every year to get the latest offerings or no updates and bye-bye.

Delphi surpasses two million users.

Buy Now?
Has anyone noticed the buy-now link is broken for more than 2 days? Here are some possible reasons nobody noticed it:

a) Very few people buy Delphi, C++ Builder or RadPHP. So nobody noticed this error.

b) Nobody at Emb. checks their own site (unless someone points this out to them).

Upcoming Crapp Wave?
The good-bad thing about Delphi is that it allows you to easily create bad apps and if you don't like your customers - screw them, delete posts on your website's forum and also delete that pesky user account too... Now with the AppStore, you cannot remove bad comments from your users unless you truly resolve issues.
